We've owned the Rally Red '65 Fuelie since the spring of 1991. During the first year, we performed a body off restoration, doing all the work ourselves. The stripping, body lift, body repairs, painting, mechanical, wiring and all the rest were accomplished in our home garage. Since then we've enjoyed many miles of cruising, making all the work worthwhile.
In May 1998 the car earned a third flight award at the Quebec NCRS Chapter Judging Meet. Not too shabby for a car that's painted the wrong colour and has a replacement block in it! In August Brian tried the fuelie at a local dragstrip, the car ran a 13.6 in the 1/4 mile on street tires. He's planning on making a few minor engine adjustments over the winter just to see if he can't better his time.
The Yellow '78 was J's Christmas present in 1996. Brian found it in early December, purchased it and kept it a secret until Christmas day. He and the kids snuck it home in the middle of the night on Christmas Eve, washed it and put a big red bow on it..:-)
All J found were the keys under the tree..................when she looked in the garage she shreiked with joy!
Getting a Corvette for Christmas was a thrill, but the wait for spring to arrive was challenging. We used the time to replace the front carpets, wheels and tires, speakers and a few other minor details. We drove the car to Carlisle in August '97 and in October '97 it won a second flight award at our Quebec NCRS judging event.
